Audiobook Review: Pork Pie Pandemonium

Pork Pie Pandemonium book review

Charles Robert Fox isn’t the best audio narrator for Higgs’ Blue Moon series, as he sounds a good two to three decades older than thirty-something Tempest Michaels, but he’s the perfect voice for of Pork Pie Pandemonium, whose primary human character, retired detective superintendent Albert Smith, is a sensible and well-educated 78. He also adds just the right amount of playful naughtiness to Rex Harrison’s voice (“Squirrels had to die”) — the ex-police German Shepherd was kicked out of the Metropolitan Police for having a bad attitude — which is why he and the ever-curious Albert make the perfect crime-solving duo in five hours and 33 minutes of mischievous joy.
